OK, guys, here is my February contribution. As anyone who has visited my blog knows, my project is still kind of in the organizing stages because I am stuck moving at the pace of my Creativity and Community class, and we are developing our proposals much more slowly in that class. So, I haven’t encountered too many resources so far that I think might be helpful to others. Anyway, one of the resources I was considering for the research part of my project is one of the leaders of the Three Rivers Jenbe Ensemble that I have been working with for a few weeks now. I was thinking of not only asking him for direction for my research, but possibly interviewing him. That was before we began discussing IRBs and all the regulations on any type of human research. I didn't/don't know if an interview would fall into that category and decided to do a little more checking. I ended up at Purdue's webpage with all of its IRB info. I haven't explored it completely yet, but thought it might help others who are/will be in the future working with people and research.

Malissa:
If the interview is done solely for classroom purposes, it may fall into a grey area where submission to the IRB isn't necessary. If Dr. Cain is OK with it, there may be no problem.
